And despite it all .. I am

A picture tells a thousand words.. it also hides a multitude. So quick are we to showcase our joyous escapades and our accomplishments, yet more cautious of revealing what lurks in the shadows.

In a world that capitalises on negative self image, materialistic ideals and our desire to attain the “perfect” life;  I feel it’s important, well important for me, to always be authentic and real. 
This picture signifies a lot for me. It reminds me that despite my struggles, I can still smile. Despite my pain, I can still feel joy. Despite my fear, I can still have courage. Despite my tears, I can still laugh. Despite feeling alone, I can still be a friend. Both darkness and light can co-exist within us, similarly sadness and happiness, turmoil and peace. It’s ok to feel both, and everything in between.

Female friendships are fucking extraordinary

There’s nothing quite like spending four days abroad, in very close proximity to ten other women. Some of these beauties I’d never met before, and others I’m lucky enough to have had in my life for years.  I think it’s a testament to us all, but most importantly a testament to our beautiful Claire, that we “holiday-ed” as seamlessly, effortlessly and fabulously as we did. We laughed until our bellies ached, danced like not a sinner was watching, nearly got ourselves killed a few times crossing roads, cycled for a few hours to earn some booze on a bike, Sparty’d the limbs off ourselves, took a combined total of ten thousand photographs, and consumed copious amounts of delicious food and cocktails. It’s been both refreshing and heartwarming to spend time with these women who have many differences, but even more similarities.
